iPad / iPhone Simulator

Postby marth617 » Fri Aug 09, 2013 3:04 am

Hello all,

Just curious I am going through the Cocos2D book and reached the point in the book where I need to tilt the iPad to have the Box2D effect to place. Since I do not have the apple Dev License and do not have a iPad is there anyway from the simulator for me to do a "tilt" command? Or this is required to have a physical device and License?

Thank you for the help!!

That is why im pretty sure the book says you need a device :P

Depending on the version of xcode and iOS you have, there are ways of getting around that...

Yeah your right... I just don't feel yet if I am ready to purchase a Apple Dev License. Since I havent designed anything yet to put onto the app store so it would kinda feel like wasting $100. But may have to bite the bullet and get one for testing with this book I assume.

Even though there's a lot of kids making accounts just so they can test beta junk, 100 bucks is nowhere worth just being able to build and run apps from Xcode...

This is always a better idea, and holds true to the spirit of why we jailbreak :)

Haha, yeah i'll take a look at that video to try it this way possibly.. But I still need a iPad. Is the iPad mini and the iPad 2 have the same pixel resolution? So making apps/games for the ipad non-retina will be the same screeSize code regardless if it is iPad mini or iPad 2 correct?

I think ipad mini, 2 and 3 all have the same resolution, so the apps will look the same in that respect

Now if you dont even have an iOS device at all you are kinda up a creek with the video i posted as theres a slim chance you will be able to get on that you could do that one :/

I have the iPhone 5, no iPad's at all.. lol Thinking about getting the Mini the price is fair so nothing to expensive. But I think the apple devs site is still down as I am not able to enroll... Maybe in oct. it will be back up for the new iOS7 and Xcode 5 updates.

Thank you for you help greatly appreciate it!

This is a teenie ridiculous, but you could goto a store (not an apple store, they definately wont let you do this)
Run the serial number of each Mini you find into this site to find out what version iOS it should have currently installed. http://ios.joshuaturner.co

If its between 6.0-6.1.2 then you should be able to jailbreak and have fun with xcode while we wait for them lazies to get Enrollment back online :P
